Weekend Recap

Is it already Sunday night? Weekends are so unfair. They take forever to get here, and then they’re over in a snap! Ugh. But hey, I had a fantastic weekend, so I guess it’s alright. I just always wish the weekends were longer.

Yesterday, Mike and I spent the day with the dogs in San Francisco. I love San Francisco! It makes me so sad that we don’t go there as often as we used to, which was at least once a week! I wish we could afford to live there also, but it’s whatever. Ha! Anyway, we finally got our fix of Salt & Straw ice cream. I have been craving that thing for a couple of years now, since our last trip to Portland. I got Honey Lavender and Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache. Oh. My. Gosh. AMAZING! Mike got Peach Vinegar Cobbler with Toasted Nutmeg and Bone Marrow & Smoked Cherries (so brave). We waited maybe around ten/fifteen minutes in line, but even if we had waited longer, it would not have mattered. Aside from the ice cream being worth it, we were also entertained by all the dogs roaming around with their humans.

After getting our ice cream fix, we took the dogs to Crissy Field – East Beach. We walked around for a bit, got to know a few other dogs, and then called it a day. It was such a beautiful day in the city – warm sun and cool breeze, my favorite SF weather. I wish we didn’t have to leave so soon, but we did.

Last night, Mike’s parents and sister came over for dinner and to watch boxing (#CaneloGGG). Because it was such a last minute invite, we had to whip up something quick. We came up with Sweet & Sour Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and rice (of course). Beer, soda, and dessert were optional. As for the fight, I thought there was a clear cut winner, but the judges thought otherwise. Oh well.

After everyone left, Mike and I spent the rest of the evening at my parents’ house. Everyone was there so it was fun. We didn’t sleep until around 6:30 in the morning! Haha! I’m still tired. But we woke up early to pick up our cruise voucher, then lunch and Niners game. I had chicken lettuce wraps and mango mojito. So good! I wish I could have another pitcher of the mojito. Ha!

Movies and Dinners

It’s Sunday and I can’t wait to already finish my upcoming four-day work week. Yes, yes… I am taking next Friday and Saturday off. 😉

For now, though, let’s do a quick recap.

Last week went by so fast and it was so much fun!

Mike and I watched a movie in the theatre for the first time since Cars 3, and it was a Filipino movie, Finally Found Someone. One of our occasional guilty pleasures is watching “rom-com” Filipino movies. Hah! It’s really more mine than his, but he’s so kind enough to take me. Anyway, the most annoying part of the movie is the audience thinking it was appropriate to talk during the movies, make comments about every little scene, and opening & crumpling bags of chips/popcorn/candies/etc. I mean, I can honestly tolerate babies and (very) young kids babbling but adults? Come on! We managed to tune them out and enjoy the movie.

Maxie (Mike’s sister-in-law) and I finally found time to have dinner together and catch up! We had Mexican food and spent more time in the restaurant talking than actually eating. It was great and we figured that we definitely need more time together. However, with her nursing school coming down to its final stretch and my work just so busy, we know it’s going to be a more conscious effort on both parts. Cheers to success!

Yesterday, we said bye to our friend, JR, who is moving to Southern California to pursue his Master’s Degree. We are super proud! 🙂 We also can’t wait to maybe visit Disneyland with him. Hehe. After, we went to dinner with my family for my brother’s birthday. We also officially received news that my sister-in-law, Sharon, is pregnant! I’m going to be an Auntie (and Nina) again! Blessings are pouring upon our families, and we love it.

What was also cool yesterday was that Mike and I woke up to an e-mail with a link to our wedding video preview! We watched it two times during breakfast, and again after dinner last night with the family. We invited everyone to come over for coffee and dessert and a special screening of our video. Haha! We were just so excited.

Another thing we are so, so excited for? We just (semi) booked a trip to Hawaii for February 2018! Well, we really just booked our hotel for now. Plane tickets and excursions are next! Any tips for Hawaii? We will be staying in Oahu. Yay, Aulani! 😉

Engagement’s 2nd Anniversary

At the beginning of June, I booked a round-trip plane tickets to Burbank for Mike and myself, not knowing if the trip would actually happen. However, just in case, I also booked a hotel room for a four-night stay a few days later. I was confident in my booking because Southwest Airlines has an amazing cancellation policy and DoubleTree By Hilton allows for a 24-hour cancellation. What’s great is that I booked my hotel at the right time, because I checked again a week later, and the prices was almost doubled! Phew!

Anyway, the mini vacation happened! We arrived in Burbank on a Saturday morning, and had breakfast at Grits Fullerton. I got Pork Belly & Grits and Mike ordered Bone Marrow & Waffles. Both were delicious! Then, on a whim, we drove to San Diego while monitoring StubHub. We watched our SF Giants play the Padres. Who knew that finding Giants shirt would be so hard in So Cal? LOL. We eventually found a Sports Fever store, where I got a nice shirt for 50% off! We made our way to Petco Park, and their parking price of $15 still amaze us because that is so much cheaper than what we are used to, especially with the garage being across the street from the ballpark! We had Phil’s BBQ right before the game, and we were happy to have set next to a pair of Giants fans. Our team lost, making us 0-2 when in attendance at Petco Park. On the bright side, it was fireworks night! We watched the fireworks show before heading back to Anaheim.

We spent Sunday, most of Monday, and Tuesday at Disneyland & California Adventure. We dined at Carthay Circle and Carnation Cafe, and we also did the on-the-go dining package for Fantasmic. This was mainly because we wanted to celebrate our engagement’s second anniversary. Silly, but it makes us nostalgic thinking about the day of! While waiting for Fantasmic, we sat in a circle talking with a family from Georgia and a local lady (of So Cal). They were really nice people, and made the wait bearable. One thing that we got a laugh out of was when the lady mentioned how folks from the East Coast or anywhere but the West Coast say “Disney” when referring to Walt Disney World, while West Coasters actually say “Land” or “World.” That is so interesting, but I also found some truth to it when I look at my Disney forums! Haha.

We flew back home on Wednesday, and of course, we had to bring back some pastries from Porto’s! Our families love it and they appreciate whenever we bring those boxes of happiness back. Now, I am gearing back to go to work… tomorrow… on a Saturday! But only for four hours. Ha!

If there is anything different from this past vacation, it’s the fact that we were more budget-conscious than we have ever been on a vacation. We also ate a whole bunch of popcorn because we remembered to bring the AP popcorn bucket we bought during our last visit to Disneyland. What was cool is that we were able to get refills for just $1! We must have refilled it 4 or 5 time during the trip. 😛

What’s new everyone?!

Summer is Here

Whoa… hello out there! And hello SUMMER! While it’s not exactly my favorite season, it is my birth season, so yeah, go summer! Since my last update…, TWO MONTHS AGO, I still have not yet found my creative outlet, have gained a lot of weight, and have purposely ignored anything that I didn’t care for or want to care for but cannot really afford to care for. Did that make any sense at all?

Anyway, I failed to mention that between April 1st and May 31st, we have taken three separate trips to Disneyland. The first one trip was with the hubby (of course), my brothers, sisters in law, niece, and nephew. It was planned in less than one week. The conversation went something like:

Me: Hey, we’re driving down to Disneyland for the weekend.
SIL: Oh, maybe we can go too.
Me: Ok! Let me know.
Bro: Let me see if (his wife) can get the weekend off. We’ll go too!

The following day, everyone was able to get the weekend off…and we booked our hotel, they bought their tickets, and off we were to Disneyland!

The second trip was a one day trip. Mike and I took a 6AM flight, spent the morning at California Adventure, ate all we that our stomachs would allow at the Food & Wine Festival, spent the afternoon at Disneyland, drove around Orange County for a little bit, then took the last flight home. Lastly, the third trip was during Memorial Day weekend. We spent that entire Sunday at California Adventure, and rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout three times! Luckily for us, we never waited more than one hour for the ride! We loved it so much! (TIP: Get your FastPass as soon as you get there, wait in line while the wait time is still short, go back during your designated time, watch the early showing of World of Color, get in line to the ride as soon as you leave the show and others watch the second showing (or vice-versa), and voila… guarantee three times the fun!)

Anyway, I guess I didn’t really have much substance in this post. I just needed to kill time while I uploaded my iPhone photos onto my MacBook. However, it has failed three times already. Help?

Next time, I’ll try a little more on writing about something that matters.

February Happened

Finally, a day off with nothing to do. Actually that’s wrong because there are plenty of things to do, but what’s an hour to myself? I deserve it after all.

I am finally getting settled in at the new workplace – two and a half months later! While I wish things were like that instead of this, or that this should be this way and not that way, I like where I’m at. The people I work with are nice and helpful, and it’s nice and liberating not being the automatic go-to person. New girl perks.

Now that February is gone – what happened in February? For our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple, Mike and I went out for some sushi at one of our usual places in Sacramento. It was nothing romantic but it works for us. The following weekend, we drove down to Orange County. We stopped by Valencia for an extra early breakfast and Stumptown coffee! We then spent the day at Disneyland, where we stuffed our faces as much as we could. We grabbed a light lunch and some drinks at Cove Bar and had an amazing dinner at Blue Bayou. The highlight of the day was hands-down watching the Main Street Electrical Parade! I love all the Disney parades, but the Electrical Parade brings all the feels and memories from childhood. Can I cry now? Haha. TIP: There are two different meal plans that will give you a preferred viewing for the parade. Check out Disneyland’s website for more information. It’s worth it if you don’t want to park yourselves for a few hours before the show.

The following day was a beautiful, warm day so we decided to head out Laguna Beach for lunch and shenanigans. Downfall of that weekend though? Learning that the Sacramento Kings traded Boogie. I may have cried a little.

Now is probably the time to get off. I have a lot of cleaning up to do. A LOT. Happy Saturday, y’all! 🙂

Life Lately, Jan 2017 Edition

Hello World and Happy New Year! November and December seriously happened in a snap, or at least that’s what it felt like. So many things happened between my last post and now that I don’t know where to begin. Maybe I’ll do a quick recap now, and do more in-depth posts later on.

So remember that wedding thing I was talking about? It totally happened! 😀 I am married! Ahhh! It’s true what people say – that the days leading up to your wedding will have you feeling all sorts of emotions. People said I looked pretty calm for a bride-to-be, but I was totally freaking out on the inside. Honestly, I was truly lucky enough to have my entire family by my side, helping me in whatever way they could. I felt so loved! Oh, did my groom cry? Duh! LOL. More on this later, aka another post.

The honeymoon? I mean, can we just go back to those two weeks when we were in paradise? I would do this part of the getting-married-thing all over again! We took a Disney cruise to the Bahamas and then stayed another week in Orlando. We never wanted to go home. Nuh uh. Take us back!

How was our first Christmas as a married couple? Although it seemed like the routine was the same, some things just felt different. Different in a way that made it feel a little more cozy. 😉 Also, those gifts for our parents? They no longer have to say, “Dad/Uncle” or “Mom/Auntie” because now they say “Mom” or “Dad.” It saves my fingers from cramping. Just kidding.

Finally, this whole living together thing? It has been fun and frustrating, but mostly fun. LOL. I am also finding out things about myself that are pleasantly surprising, if I do say so myself… like cooking or doing laundry! 😛 Please don’t judge me.

That’s it for now. I’m feeling like a grandma, needing to sleep before midnight. I promise to write more about the above mentioned events soon, and then some. I hope everyone’s having a great, happy 2017 so far! *Cheers to a wonderful 2017!

Life Lately

Currently wondering: When the heck am I going to sleep?! Between traveling, partying, and moving these past few days, I have been running on an average of three hours of sleep daily. Oh my!

In the last five days, I managed to take two round-trip flights to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Also in the last five days, I’ve had my final fitting, went to Disneyland for the last time this year, attended a makeshift bachelorette party in Vegas, and received the keys to our brand new place. All of that in addition to living life, of course. My family has been so sweet in helping us move in to the new place… slowly but surely.

In ten days, I will be getting married. Whaat?! That is so soon… sigh. I can’t believe it’s finally going to happen. How do brides stay so calm during this time of their lives? Or am I feeling like they were – calm on the outside but soooo nervous and anxious on the inside?!

Anyway, I am hoping and praying that everything turns out well, if not perfectly. I also hope that everyone has fun and no one goes home hungry.
